The Mayor’s robe and chain
The full insignia (the Mayors uniform) consists of:

Full dress is worn on the following occasions:

Meetings of the Council

Reception following the Annual Meeting of the Council

The Civic Service

Civic Dinner and Ball Reception
The Cocked Hat may be carried or worn when the Mayor is robed, but is always worn when inspecting parades, such as on Remembrance Sunday.
The chain of office and badge are worn by the Mayor, and the Mayoress or Consort.
The chain of office and badge of the Deputy Mayor (and Deputy Mayoress or Consort) should not be worn when they are present with the Mayor at engagements. However it is worn at the following civic functions:

The Civic Ball (when the Deputy Mayor is normally asked to assist in entertaining distinguished guests).
The Mayor should only wear the insignia outside of the borough with prior approval of the Mayor or Chairman of the local authority in the area in which they are visiting.
