Mayor Information
The Mayoress or Consort
Mayor
Traditionally if the Mayor is male, he will appoint a Mayoress.
If the Mayor is female, she will appoint a Consort.
The position of Mayoress or Consort is an honorary one. They will accompany the Mayor to both formal civic occasions, and other non formal engagements.
The Mayoress or Consort will wear a chain and badge of office to formal occasions.
Deputy Mayor
Again, if the Deputy Mayor is male, there will be a Deputy Mayoress. If the Deputy Mayor is female, the will be a Deputy Consort.
Past Mayors, Mayoress and Consorts
On important civic occasions past Mayors, Mayoresses and Consorts would be expected to wear the badges they were presented with at the end of the Mayoral year.
