Discover Wellingborough presents the Christmas Lights Switch On

Celebrate the countdown to Christmas at Wellingborough’s fun-filled Christmas Lights Switch-on!

The fun begins at 1pm as reindeer await company and queues start to form for the snow globe. Music by the All Hallows Church choir and Northamptonshire School of Music fills the air, while Steve the juggler entertains crowds by juggling, spinning and more. Local charity Niamh’s Next Step‘s are providing face painting and tombola.

Free tickets to be won for the Wizard of Oz donated by The Castle Theatre and for any Northampton Saints home game of the winners choice this season (subject to availability) donated by Niamh’s Next Step. 

Shop at the Victorian Market stalls at The Hind with a warming glass of mulled wine or wind your way to the Market Square to have a taster of the Christmas Market there.  

Line the streets at 3.45pm for the parade along with the cast of The Wizard of Oz to welcome Santa on his sleigh pulled by reindeer.

Community Christmas Carol Service in the Market Place

A free community carol service will be held on Thursday 21 December in Wellingborough town centre.

The Borough Council of Wellingborough has teamed up with All Hallows Church in Wellingborough to organise the service, which will take place at 6pm outside All Hallows Church on the town’s market place.

The service is a fantastic way to kick- start your Christmas celebrations with family and friends and is a traditional celebration with lots of carols and readings telling the Christmas story.

The Salvation Army band will be playing during the service, and hot drinks and mince pies will be available afterwards.

Holocaust Memorial Exhibition in Wellingborough

The Holocaust Memorial Day in Wellingborough Committee will be holding their annual exhibition in the Swansgate Centre from Wednesday 24 January until Saturday 27 January.

The commemorative display is based around the theme of ‘The Power of Words’. Contributions to the exhibition have been encouraged from the local community in fields like art, graphic design, creative writing and poetry.

Holocaust Memorial Day in Wellingborough

On Sunday 28th January at 2pm in Swanspool Gardens, Wellingborough, the Borough Council will be holding a short Service of Remembrance at the Anne Frank tree in the gardens.

 All are welcome to attend. Holocaust Memorial Day continues to grow as people from all parts of the community and all areas of the UK become involved and has a tangible impact on the people and communities who organise and attend commemorative activities.

The Organising Committee for the Holocaust Memorial Weekend in Wellingborough are always looking for volunteers to help or contribute to our weekend of activities. International Waendel Walk - Friday Opening Parade and Walks

The Waendel Walk Opening Parade will take place on Friday 11 May, starting at 18:00pm. The Parade begins at Castle Theatre and will mark the start of the Night Friendship Walks

During the Waendel Walk Opening Parade, members of the Wellingborough Scouts will be bearing the IML Flags of Nations, along with a marching band and other local community associations and uniformed groups. Walkers are encouraged to join the Parade and complete either the 5km or 10km Friendship Walks.
