Death - registering: Outline
By law a death must be registered within 5 days, unless the Registrar says that this period may be extended or if the Coroner is involved.
The death will be registered in the District in which the death occurred. If it is not convenient for you to visit the Register Office for the District you can go to any other Register Office in England or Wales to make a declaration of the particulars required for the registration.
The Registration Service is the responsibility of Northamptonshire County Council but, in Wellingborough, it shares the Borough Council's Offices in Swanspool House.
For further information about registering a death, visit the Registering a Death webpage at Northamptonshire County Council's website.
